Christian has a special relationship to the US city of Boston, Massachusetts. In 2016, he celebrated one of his biggest athletic success overseas. Only two weeks after winning the German Championships on the rowing machine, the then twenty-year-old won the rowing machine’s U23 World Championships. Within the sculler national team, he is one of the best on the rowing machine as well, but for them it is necessary to perform their skills on water as well. On the water though, the now 23-year-old sports soldier still has potential for improvement, so it will not be enough until Tokyo. But Christian’s way will certainly continue in another form.

The rowing soul is delighted, because the athletes like to rowing most with their boats on glassy water and sunny weather. But also a training camp has its rules.
Oliver Zeidler, Stephan Krüger, Tim Ole Naske – those are three contenders for the seat in the single scull. Each of them has his very own strengths. In Erba they practice head-to-head.
In the end the coaches select the rowers for the boats. The double scull could become highly competitive. Only the most successful boat of the last years causes some worries.
The ergometer test is the starting point of the selection and well known in the world of rowing: 2,000 meters – human vs. machine.
